Those warm memories you created
Have left an imprint in your soul
You remember-
The laughter ringing through the corridors as the school bell went off
And watching jasmine buds bloom in the cool night air through your window.
How grandpa always smelt of Yardley talcum powder
And grandma of heavenly spices.
You remember-
The chipped mosaic tiles your bare feet ran on while playing with your siblings
And the coolness of the porch after papa watered the plants.
How Sundays always meant sleeping in and watching your favourite shows with muma’s special breakfast
And at school the creaking of the swing during break time as you flew high made you feel like a superhero
Childhood rolling into adulthood, you took them
Those warm memories you created
The ones that left an imprint in your soul
Sipping on chai or coffee- during those much-needed breaks and the banter that followed
The long commute as you reached new places,
Those getaways to nature’s lap that made you feel grounded and alive.
The time you made a friend, the time you found love, the time you discovered yourself
Every first moment and last,
And of course the in between ones.
The time you chose to stop and stare, at the intricacies of life
The time you chose to reminisce and let the wave of nostalgia take over
As you revisited
Those warm memories that are usually tucked away in the crevices of your mind
Those warm memories that left an imprint on your soul-
Nostalgia touching home.
We are halfway through #BlogchatterA2Z and if you have stuck around, you must have noticed that most of my posts are an attempt to tease your five senses, stir your memories and take you to a familiar place you feel at home. Along with this poem, I also reveal my theme- nostalgia! I hope you continue to enjoy this ride down memory lane and also be inspired to create some more.

The entire month of April, I am blogging from A2Z powered by #BlogchatterA2Z
What a lovely post ans such a wonderful theme

From those late Sunday mornings with mom’s breakfast to those creaking school swings, everything stirred so many emotions. Will have to talk to an old friend now just to share those moments again!

Indeed, I went back in time. My grandfather had this daily routine wherein he would finish his yoga practice and then massage his body with coconut oil. After his bath, he would apply Mysore Sandlewood powder . That aroma in the bathroom if I went to bath after him, just filled my senses. My entire summer vacations just flashed my mind as I read your poetry. Just this one line invoked so many emotions in me, Leha. It did touch home.

I think school memories are the ones that rise up most readily when I think of the “glorious past.” This was a lovely read Leha ❤
