Everything that’s done in love is done well- Vincent Van Gogh
There used to be in my garden a bed of Irises
Bluish hues they painted random speckles against the green and brown
They stood firm and royal
And brought spring alive
There wasn’t a garden in town like mine so full of life
I nurtured them everyday and they flourished
And then winter came with her sharp icy touch
A cloud of darkness hovered over them like an epidemic of flu
And they began to wither inside her iron clutch
Vivid purples turning into greyish blues!
I looked up frantically, searching the sun and found nothing but clouds…
I watered my Irises but they were already gone!
I picked up an Iris, it crumbled between my fingers
I stood watching, the tiny flakes slip away.
Life was fading in my garden, my haven
Time was ticking by
I scattered more seeds and watered them again
And waited in patience , I waited in silence.
Now in my garden there’s a bed of Irises,
Radiant purples , a colour none would have ever seen
Winter came by and yet my Irises stood tall,
Not once did they shudder at her touch
My garden of Irises are now evergreen
There’s only fragrance blooming
because they’ve been touched by love so pure
A love that lets spring stay forever
In my garden , my garden of Irises.
Blooming and beaming, my garden of Irises.
A love without condition has the power to change the world.

Uncanny how similar we think. Check this poem I wrote ages back: http://ashwinis-perceptions.blogspot.com/2006/03/magic-of-life.html

Beautifully written, it has come straight from you heart. Nothing can beat the power of love and when we are nurturing nature with such unconditional love, it is only going to give back the same love with compound interest and loads of joy. And top of it when a statement comes from greatest artist like Van Gogh, it gets devoid of any iota of doubt that we lesser mortal may be harboring.

Love is just that, the more we try to hold on the more it slips away. When we’re selfless, it stays by our side.

This was beautiful. I would have easily thought it to be a modern rendition of Wordsworth or a similar poet. Just beautiful. very evocative.
