In the backyard of the blue house a vibrant bed of grass covers the ground.
Wispy dandelions fly across, with no particular path
In the midst of a balmy summer day.
And in the centre of the yard
Stands a lemon tree
Tall and dense, and the deepest green
With glazed, murmuring tender leaves.
Swallowing golden drops of light
Zesty flavours of the warm season spread across the yard.
Every summer when the lemon tree blooms
The sun comes down to the backyard of the blue house
And on the bed of misty grass falls-
Yellow sunshine in a drop.

Again this post was filled with vision, aroma and imagination! Loved it totally. I remembered one big lemon tree that we used to have once !

Thanks Chinmayee. It must have been wonderful to have a lemon tree, surrounded by that freshness.

“Yellow sunshine in a drop” – how beautiful that sounds. Reminds me of the poem by Blake ‘To see a world in a grain of sand’…
Your writing style is magical, Leha!

The words and the picture reminded me of my trip to Italy. We had gone for a holiday and our homestay was in a lemon orchard
