The sun is bright and harsh
Searing through the vast sky
Onto deserted roads
And empty boulevards that once held ringing laughter.
Unkempt plants with over grown weeds
Twist around the barbed fences.
Silhouettes of empty chairs are seen
Through murky windows, dark and dusty.
The sound of loneliness blares through the silence
And the scent of fear
Hangs like a thick fog.
We hide under rocks and in dark spaces
And drift through it all like soulless beings,
Searching something to hold on to
As the world vaporizes into nothingness with each passing moment.
We search for that ounce of hope
To feel something again
And not just numbness piercing our hearts.
We search amidst this fleeting life
For that ounce of hope-
The hope that humanity lives on,
A glimmer of hope
To just feel human once again.

Wow! You sound so good. And the background music is something else (can’t explain how it made me feel).
Lovely composition, Leha!

It does seem like we are sinking away or should I say salted away due to these unusual years.
