We decorate pain in everyday life.
Amidst the intricacies of nature and labyrinth of creation, we find ways to decorate pain
Through stormy hail and torrential rains, we decorate pain with a dainty rainbow,
In the darkest nights we decorate pain with specks of shimmering stars.
Through the circle of life, the blooming and withering of flowers, the struggle for hope to stay alive and see the radiance of the sun we keep decorating pain.
We decorate pain, disguising it with other emotions-
With a beaming smile, twinkling eyes, or a jewel like tear drop.
With raging anger, immense strength or silent contemplation,
We decorate pain covering it under layers.
In between the pages of books, we decorate pain with words, words that dance like a string of beads and sometimes shatter to the ground like glass marbles.
We decorate pain through the characters we create in the stories we tell;
Through enamored words of poetry and all kinds of art.
We decorate pain in everyday life.
In the perfect morning schedule or the flawless plan for the day.
We decorate pain in the regular, in the usual
We decorate it with such great skill,
That finally, it just seems invisible.
Inspired by the quote,
Strange how we decorate pain
Margaret Atwood

So well written. Though I wish we wouldn’t conceal pain so much.

Those decorations make life a bearable pain.

Where does this decorating pain lead us though? Certainly doesn’t make it easier or bearable.

This was so deep and so true. We hide our pain – sometimes out of strength and sometimes out of vulnerability.

Pain is an intrinsic part of life, and our never ending companion. Yes, almost all of us are decorating pain in every way possible 🙂 Quite true….your post….
