Nothing but still something

An ink stained desk, a drawer that is stuck

A shelf with the Chartered Accountant’s neatly stacked files, and his granddaughter’s picture

A singer from the 70’s singing softly in the background while a mother hums in the kitchen

Someone dances to a favourite playlist in an oversized T-shirt that’s worn too many times.

Blinking neon lights in an otherwise dark street

A light that never goes off on the 14th storey of a building, in a city that doesn’t sleep

A board game that’s half finished and a young boy waiting for his father to come home

A teenager hiding in the last bench, drawing caricatures in the Math class

A room that’s very much aware of the ticking clock

A laptop that almost never shuts, a phone that never blinks

A man who falls asleep in front of the TV every night because he can’t otherwise

A dog, a cat, an ant, a human creating their own little world

Oscillating between existing and living

A world that has a million puzzle pieces

Almost irrational, but not quite

Slowly but surely coming together

Nothing, but still something.
