The purpose of art

on

Is art about finding the right canvas, vibrant colours, and perfect set of brushes?

Is it about the way the easel stands facing the light so you notice every stroke of paint, every dot and splash?

Is it about colouring within the lines, or having no lines at all?

Maybe it is about creating a new wonder everyday

Or about capturing wordless moments in a permanent frame.

Trapping beauty in timeless space?

Perhaps the purpose of art is to become a window for emotions-

Love, joy, sorrow, pain, rage

Struggle and relief, all hidden within.

Maybe it is the edge of madness, where logic makes no sense.

Whatever art means to you and me

One thing for sure is that when you truly put a bit of your soul in it

Another person comes along and finds a bit of their soul in it too.

Connecting them to you and the Universe

It makes them feel something they can’t put into words,

And discover something about their innermost selves.

Perhaps

Perhaps that is the ultimate purpose of art.

I have always maintained writing for me is a way of finding myself. Much like art can be interpreted in different ways, it’s purpose should also be myriad and varied. Lovely composition.

Quite true, that one. The world will not be the same without art. And art is living in almost in all of us, in some way or the other. Nice words.

A bit of madness is required for all fors of creativity. Art is no different. For me art is like a balm for my oft frazzled soul…
